The artist has given the complete sum of his £25,000 award cash to the trust for venues, which works to preserve the United Kingdom's small concert spaces.

The star was awarded the award on October 16 as his new release People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the North East, and further afield, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising over £100k on his live tour to assist 38 grassroots venues across Britain.

The donation supported spaces that were confronting imminent closure due to issues caused by water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Some locations obtained funding support in improving amenities and gear that helped musicians and audiences.

"The idea that funds from concerts in big venues backs the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," Ms Dynamite told outlets.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective donated their funds to the local youth club that supported their group, as well as other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners the group donated their prize to a MS organization after a friend was found to have the condition.

"The victory was ample," said vocalist the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we could do without the bonus, because we had the cake. So our victory affected another person's life."

Last week, the MVT shared it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and the second in the city were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is backed by a national body and supporters who purchase "ownership units" in the buildings.
